Introduction to Racing Course
Getting started in motor racing is an exciting prospect but it can also be a daunting one. For this reason, we are putting on an Introduction to Racing Course to help inexperienced and completely new drivers with their preparations ahead of the 2019 season.
This is a classroom-based course that is intended to provide an all-round introduction to motor racing. It is delivered by our experienced head coach, Malcolm McNab, and covers a wide range of subjects, including:
- Your First Race Weekend
- We’ll take you through the whole process from start to finish. From entering a race, to where you sign on, to scrutineering and how you approach testing vs racing.
- Introduction to Racing Etiquette & Driving Standards
- During this section of the day, we’ll talk you through the rules of racing and show you some videos examples that highlight good and bad driving standards.
- Preparing You
- We will conclude the day by providing some guidance on how to prepare for a race weekend; this will include some advice on nutrition and hydration, as well as touching on ways that you can ‘train’ as a racing driver without being in the car.
The course will be held at DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh Queensferry Crossing, from 10am to 4pm on Sunday 24th March. The course costs just £10 for SMRC members. This includes lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
There are a maximum of 20 spaces available on this course so please get in touch soon to avoid disappointment.
