SMRC Announces New £13,000 Prize Fund

We are very pleased to announce that top finishing competitors this season and in 2023 will benefit from a new prize fund, exceeding £13,000.

Following some member feedback, asking if the club would consider the introduction of prize money, the SMRC committee discussed prize funds in a recent committee meeting and agreed on a new reward scheme for our top finishing competitors.

For the 2023 season, the top three overall finishers in each main championship (see or terms and conditions for details) will receive vouchers towards their 2024 season, as follows:

Champion – 100% discount on 2024 registration fee and race entry fees
2nd place – 50% discount on 2024 registration fee and race entry fees
3rd place – 25% discount on 2024 registration fee and race entry fees

These fantastic prizes amount to a total value of over £13,000, which will mean that there will be more than bragging rights at stake for our competitors next year!

However, considering the cost of living crisis that we are facing at the moment, the committee voted to back-date this prize fund to 2022 as well, meaning the top 3 drivers in each main championship will benefit from the prize fund detailed above.

SMRC Chairman, Vic Covey Jnr commented:

“Scotland has a long history of producing talented competitors and as a club, we want to do everything we can to support our up-and-coming drivers, particularly in the hard economic times we are facing. I hope this new initiative will help to ensure some of our top drivers can return to defend or challenge for titles next year and beyond, and perhaps even progress onto a new championship within the SMRC stable. With the new look calendar announced earlier this week, 2023 is shaping up to be a fantastic season!’
