Edinburgh Watch Company Continue As Official Classics Sponsor
We are delighted to announce that the Edinburgh Watch Company will continue to be the official sponsor for the 2022 Scottish Classics Sports and Saloons Championship.
The Edinburgh Watch Company is a local business which specialises in the sales and purchase of fine Swiss luxury watches. The company has become an established partner of the Scottish Motor Racing Club over the past couple of years, having supported the club’s awards dinner, event timing and laterally the highly popular Scottish Classics Championship in 2021.
Building on the success of last year, the partnership once again aims to enhance the experience for classics drivers with the continuation of the ‘Edinburgh Watch Company Driver of the Day award’. Selected by the Knockhill commentary team, this will be awarded at each race meeting to a Classics driver who has shown great spirit across the event; be that a driver who has performed significantly better than usual, or a driver who has overcome mechanical adversity to get their car on the track. This year, the driver of the day will be awarded with a bespoke Edinburgh Watch Company Decanter, so the lucky recipients can continue to enjoy their success long beyond the race weekend!
There will also be an additional Edinburgh Watch Company prize for the overall champion at the end of the year. Commenting on the continuation of the partnership, Edinburgh Watch Company owner and ex SMRC saloon car racer – Jonathan Gilbert – said:

The Scottish Classic Sports and Saloon Championship, brings a little nostalgia to SMRC race weekends, featuring some spectacular machinery from years gone by. In 2021, the championship featured the largest grids of all the SMRC championship and with soaring interest, 2022 looks like this trend could well continue! The Scottish Classic Sports and Saloon Championship will head into action at Knockhill on Sunday 10 th April, where all the cars will carry the striking Edinburgh Watch Company branding on their windscreen headers.
