EcoRally Scotland 2024 – Save the date – 22/23 August
Following the success of last years inaugural EcoRally Scotland event, the Scottish Motor Racing Club are delighted to announce the date for the 2024 edition.
Scheduled for Thursday 22nd & Friday 23rd August, this years event will take place over two days and will run alongside the Greenfleet EV Rally of Scotland as an official candidate event for the FIA Bridgestone EcoRally Cup.
Beginning in Inverness, competing crews will cover 400km of breathtaking roads utilising much of the famous ‘North Coast 500’ route before an overnight halt in Thurso.
Day 2 will see crews pass the most northerly part of the UK Mainland, John O Groats, before heading south over a further 400km to the finish.
The event is exclusively for road going electric vehicles and runs in a ‘regularity rally’ format providing a great adventure through Scotland’s iconic scenary.
EcoRally Scotland is aimed at anyone with, or with access to, an Electric Vehicle and whilst it is a competition, no prior motorsport experience is required to take part.
As a navigational rally, exact details of the route will only be provided at the start of the event, with an emphasis placed on successful navigation during the day, with each entrant being required to report to various checkpoints at a specified time. Along the route there will be defined ‘regularity sections’ where drivers will be scored in their ability to maintain an average speed. Think of it as orienteering in your electric car!
Each car must consist of a Driver and Navigator, additional passengers are not permitted. As a Motorsport UK permitted event, both the Driver and Passenger will require a Motorsport UK ‘RS Clubman’ licence, which can be applied for free of charge via the Motorsport UK website https://www.motorsportuk.org/competitors/rs-clubman-licence/
