Celtic Speed Announcement
We’re delighted to announce that Celtic Speed will continue their support of the MINICooper Cup in 2019. The leading International Historic race team – who field cars in the Masters F1 Historic and Endurance series amongst others – will be the headline sponsor for the championship once again.
Over the years, the Celtic Speed Scottish MINI Cooper Cup has been a proving ground for many top drivers including; Rory Butcher, Aiden Moffat and Chris Smiley to name but a few. We’re pleased to announce that Celtic Speed’s generous support will be used to assist the development of drivers within the championship, to help ensure it continues to be a proving ground for talent.
We believe that experiencing new tracks is very important to driver’s development and for this reason, Celtic Speed support will be used to subsidise the championships away round at Kirkistown in May; entry fees for this event will be dropped from £230 to £100 for every registered MINI championship competitor in a bid to help drivers make the trip and benefit from the experience of learning a new track.
In addition, we will be extending the role of the Championships Driving Standards representative to a coaching role. The coach will be on hand throughout race days to answer questions and provide assistance to drivers. This investment is intended to help improve drivers understanding of vehicle dynamics, race craft and of course, safety.
Commenting on the partnership Celtic Speed Team Principle, Tommy Dreelan said:
“Again, I’m delighted to be involved and providing support to allow the SMRC to meet its 2019 objectives. The club goes from strength to strength and the addition of Rory Bryant as a full-time employee is a serious statement of the club’s intentions and the benefits for Scottish motor racing, its members and spectators.”
With over 30 registrations so far, the Celtic Speed Scottish MINI Cooper Cup is set for a record year. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Tommy and Celtic Speed for their support; it has undoubtedly made a significant contribution to the success and popularity of this fantastic championship.
