2023 Calendar Announcement
A new look format will see drivers compete at circuits across 3 and 4 nations for championship honours in 2023.
We’re very pleased to be able to release our 2023 calendar which will run between April and October, taking on a new format, with events across Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales.
The aim of this new format is to provide our drivers with more variety, whilst maintaining some of the lowest entry fees in the UK. The new look calendars have been established, following consultations with drivers and teams from all our championships and indeed, each championship calendar is slightly different, having been tailored to the relevant feedback of each group.
All championships will be fought out over 6 events but each over a slightly different combination of circuits. Some of the events will be organised entirely by the SMRC and some will see championships joining race meetings organised by other clubs. In August, all championships will take part in a two-day SMRC event at Anglesey, in Wales, which will also be supported by championships from Ireland and Darlington and District Motor Club.
Our Scottish Classics, C1 Cup and Fiesta Championship’s will compete at circuits across 3 Nations. Each Championship will enjoy four events at Knockhill Racing Circuit, with one round in the anti-clockwise format. In addition to this, the Scottish Classic’s will visit Anglesey and Croft (joining the HSCC’s grid), the Scottish Fiesta’s will visit Kirkistown and Anglesey, whilst the Scottish C1 Cup will visit Anglesey and Cadwell Park. With each calendar featuring two away rounds and both the clockwise and anti-clockwise formats, at Knockhill, drivers will have the challenge of competing across 3 Nations and 4 different tracks in 2023.
Our Scottish MINI Cooper Cup and MINI Cooper S championships will enjoy a similar format but, with away rounds at Croft, Kirkistown and Anglesey, plus both clockwise and anti-clockwise formats at Knockhill, drivers will be competing across 4 Nations and 5 different tracks for the 2023 title!
