Rory Bryant
The Scottish Motor Racing Club has confirmed that Rory Bryant has been appointed as their full-time Business Development Manager.
Bryant was appointed following an interview process conducted by the SMRC in early October. He will assume the position of Business Development Manager in early 2019, where he will be tasked with creating and implementing a long term development plan which aims to grow membership, increase participation and develop existing and new revenue streams for the club.
Bryant, 30, comes with an impressive track record in motorsport development; having played an integral role in securing sportscotland investment for the Scottish Motor Sports project in 2016, he has gone onto lead the successful implementation – to date – of the 2016 -2020 strategic plan for motorsport in Scotland, in his role as National Development Manager.
He also comes with a strong motor racing background; having begun his motor racing journey with the SMRC in 2007, thanks to a scholarship from the club and Legends Racing, he went onto become Scottish Fiesta Champion in 2010 and 2011 and a race winner in various other categories throughout the UK, including British GT4.
“We were overwhelmed with the number and quality of applicants for the post,” said Sandy Denham, SMRC Chairman. “But after a thorough interview process, Rory was the unanimous choice of everyone on the panel. The work he has done with the Scottish Motor Sports project has helped to position Scotland as market leaders from a motorsport development perspective and as a former competitor he also understands the sport very well. The creation of this position is a significant step forward for the club and we are very much looking forward to working with Rory to move the club to the next level.”
Rory Bryant commented: “I am hugely excited and honoured to be taking on this new position with the Scottish Motor Racing Club. I obviously have an affinity to the club having started out my own motor racing career here back in 2007, so this is a unique opportunity for me to be able combine my business and sports development experience to help drive forward a business that I have a real passion for.
Whilst I think the traditional motorsport club model will face some challenges over the coming years, I equally believe that – with an open mind – there is huge opportunity for the SMRC to deliver a bigger, better and more diverse service to members. I’m very much looking forward to working with all the club directors, volunteers and stakeholders in 2019 and beyond.”
