C1 Cup Championship Representatives
We are delighted to welcome Finlay Brunton and James Hitchen to the SMRC team, who will jointly represent the C1 Cup drivers, as the Championship Representatives, from this season onwards. This follows John Duncan standing down as Championship Representative at the end of last year, having spent four successful years in the role.
Both Finlay and James are popular figures around the C1 paddock and have enjoyed success (and some close competition between one another!) on the track, with Finlay winning the inaugural 2019 C1 Cup Championship and James finishing runner up in the 2022 Newcomers Cup, taking overall race wins along the way. We wish Finlay and James well in their new role and look forward to working with them to continue the success of the C1 Cup.

We’d also like to thank John Duncan for all his efforts in the role since 2019; John has been an encouraging and friendly supporter to the C1 paddock and has been instrumental in the championships overall growth and success to date. Thank you, John.

Championship Representatives are the link between the drivers and the Club Officials. On race days they provide familiar and friendly faces around the Paddock and are there to ensure that drivers get the most out of their experience at the track, providing them with the latest information and being on hand to answer any questions and offer advice. Away from events, they provide the collective ‘voice’ of the championship drivers and teams, attending monthly meetings of the SMRC Committee to relay views and ensure that the Club caters for the individual requirements of each championship.
John Kinmond (classics@smrc.co.uk) and Malcolm McNab (minis@smrc.co.uk) continue to represent the Classic Sports & Saloon Championship & MINI Cooper Cup respectively.
