Edinburgh Watch Company Continue As 2023 Classics Sponsor
We are very pleased to announce the continuation of our partnership with the Edinburgh Watch Company, who will once again be the official Scottish Classics Sports and Saloons Championship sponsor, in 2023.
The Edinburgh Watch Company is a local business which specialises in the sales and purchase of fine Swiss luxury watches. With a well-recognised synergy between precision time pieces and motor racing, the Edinburgh Watch Company have become an established and much valued partner of the Scottish Motor Racing Club, over the past few years.
Building on the success of recent seasons, the partnership once again aims to add value to the Championship and its drivers. Over the past couple of years, Classic’s drivers have benefitted from wonderful Edinburgh Watch Company accessories, custom trophies and awards.
However, recognising the challenging economic environment we currently face, the Edinburgh Watch Company have decided to contribute a fabulous £600 prize fund to the championship for the 2023 season, with the Driver of the Day – at each event this year – being awarded a £100 SMRC entry fee voucher to contribute towards the cost of their next race meeting.
This fantastic new prize will be awarded at each race meeting to a Classics driver who has shown great spirit across the event but not necessarily the fastest or top finishing driver; it may be a driver who has performed significantly better than usual, or a driver who has overcome adversity to get to the finish line!
Commenting on the continuation of the partnership and this new Driver of the Day initiative, Edinburgh Watch Company owner and ex SMRC saloon car racer – Jonathan Gilbert – said:

The Scottish Classic Sports and Saloon Championship, brings a little nostalgia to SMRC race weekends, featuring some spectacular machinery from years gone by. In 2022, the championship once again featured the largest grids of all the SMRC championship and with an exciting new calendar in 2023, we expect to see this trend continue this season.
The Scottish Classic Sports and Saloon Championship will head into action for the first time at Knockhill on the 15th and 16th April, where all the cars will carry the striking Edinburgh Watch Company branding on their windscreen headers.
